On Saturday February 28th we took our ski trip to
Mt.Snow. We had 15 people signed up for the
trip and many of them met me at the shop at 7:00am. I was planning on driving
the Red Rocket with all the skis up to the mountain but the group wanted to go their
own way so I rode up to Mt.Snow with Liam. It was a
beautiful day with bright sunshine and 22 degrees when we pulled into the
parking lot at Mt.Snow and it looked like
it we would have a good day of skiing.
I got a call from Grasshopper on Saturday and he said that
he wanted to go snowboarding at Berkshire East with me. I told him that I would
take him if he drove… and so the trip was on. G-Hizza met me at Denny’s at 8:00
(our usual breakfast with the Parrott’s on Sunday’s) and we headed for the
hills. It was cloudy and not too cold when we got to Berkshire East and we
quickly got our tickets and were on the lift by 8:35.
It was a bright, sunny day and MaryEllen and I got up early
to go to breakfast with Kate and Sophie (Stupid was sleeping in). I had planned
on going up the Berkshire East to do a couple hours of skiing before the
scheduled bike ride. We had a nice breakfast at Denny’s and then I drove up to
the mountain.
It was a beautiful day on Friday the Thirteenth so Keith (Ingmar)
and I decided to go up to Stratton
Mountain for some skiing.
I
drove up to Bernardston and left my van in the parking area and got into Ingmar’s
car and he drove me up to the mountain. We arrived at the hill just before the
lifts began operating. When we got to the ticket window Ingmar gave the ticket
man the passes that he brought with him and he tried to explain why he was
getting two tickets but the ticket man’s only response was “Sir, have you been
drinking this morning?” I sort of backed away from the window and pretended not
to know Ingmar.
I went up to Berkshire East a little later than usual today
and that probably was a good thing for me because I got more sleep and was
pretty rested when I got to the slopes. I got booted up and headed out the door
to put my skis on. This was my first time on twin tips and I was a little uncertain
of how I would do with them. I stepped into the bindings and skied over to the
triple chair lift where I met up with Ed Ralicki. We got on the lift and headed
up the hill. It was a cloudy day but the temps were in the upper twenties which made the ride to the top of the mountain very comfortable.
After the snowstorm yesterday (1-29) I got to go skiing at
Berkshire East today with Keith, Liam and Knoepfchen. Keith came to pick me up at
8:00 in the morning so that I could help him find the ski area, while
Knoepfchen and Liam drove up in their cars and met us at the mountain. After
getting the lift tickets I decided to head over to Top Notch to practice some
of the more advanced skills that alpine skiing requires while Keith, Liam and
Knoepfchen went out on their own to ski other parts of the mountain.
